This week I've been busy putting the final touches on our wedding invitations. It's about 6 months away now so we realised that we'd better start getting organised, eek! Naturally the colour theme of the invites is mint green so I felt obliged to create some matching nails, obvs.

Ready for round two of the Spring Barry M swatches? Good, today we have the four new Sunset Nail Paints! This batch is completely different to the Speedies as all four are bright and fun and make us long for summer.
EMPIRE STATE OF MIND
I've got to start with my favourite from the bunch, Empire State of Mind*. I know Barry M have a ton of mint polishes already but this does differ to all those already in my collection, I promise. As far as I'm concerned you can't beat a good mint shade, so much so it's part of my wedding colour scheme. Maybe that's why I'm such a fan of this polish! The formula is stunning, silky smooth and gorgeously shiny.
PINKING OUT LOUD
Next up is Pinking Out Loud*, after all the pinks and neutrals in the new Speedy release you'd think we'd have enough of them but this is lovely. It's completely different, although still a soft shade it's right at the upper limit of a pastel, verging on a bright polish. It's found that perfect space between full on bright summer nails and playing it safe pastels. I'll definitely be rocking this when the sun finally comes out!
BUG A BLUE
I surprised myself by finding Bug A Blue* my second favourite out of these four polishes. The colour density is stunning and the polish is just so vibrant. It's not a subtle shade in any way but there is still a slight softness to it, as with Pinking Out Loud* it's a perfect mix of bright and pastel. I'm just itching to get this polish into some nail art, maybe something floral or a clean white aztec pattern?
ALL THE THINGS SHE RED
The name of this polish, All The Things She Red*, throws me off a little. It's not really a red but more of an orange or coral shade. Unfortunately it's one of those that doesn't come out quite as vibrant on camera, especially when you're battling with the British weather and imminent rain! This is the only one of the four that doesn't have any touch of pastel to it. It's a full on summer bright and will be perfect for those early festivals!
All these polishes are available now online and in Boots and Superdrug stores nationwide. They cost £4.99 each but do look out for some cheeky deals!
Don't forget to pick up a bottle of Daylight Curing topcoat* for extra shine and staying power!

I was super excited last week to discover that one of my fave nail art bloggers The Polish List was back from her blogging break with new nail art, yay!! I immediately had a scout through her insta page and was inspired by a cute cherry blossom design. By the time the original had made it onto my nails it had changed a fair bit, and I seem to have lost the cherry blossom vibe altogether!

Last week we received an epic package from Barry M full of their Spring 16 releases. The goodies included some gorgeous make up but more excitingly twelve new nail varnishes! There were four polishes from three different collections so I've broken up the swatches accordingly and we'll be posting them over the next week or so. Fist up we've got the new additions to the Speedy Nail Paint collection. This was a firm favourite last year so we've got high hopes!

I was having a rummage through the Helmer last night when I came across and OPI that I don't think I've ever used. I couldn't bear the idea of unused nail polish just sitting there so I immediately set to work! Quite aptly, in Valentine's week, the polish is called Amore at the Grand Canal <3

This week I have had to resort to wearing gel polish in an attempt to stop my nails breaking. I chose Prim& Proper* by Red Carpet Manicure. It looks quite purple from the bottle but once it was on it was more of a dark dove grey, reminiscent of Barry M's old Cappuccino shade. I can't believe it's taken me this long to find this gem, I love it! As I didn't want to remove the gels I decided to add some nail art on top of it today.
This weekend we received an epic package from Barry M of all their spring shades and I can safely tell you that we love them all (unsurprisingly!) I am particularly enamored by the various pale pink and nude shades and expect you will be seeing a lot of them over the coming weeks and months. For today's simple design I picked out the one which complemented the base colour best, In A Flash* from the Speedy collection. It's a really pale baby pink which would be lovely on it's own, or teamed with another dusty pastel, I can see it cropping up as a base for some floral manis soon!
I decided to attempt this mani freehand which in hindsight was a bad idea as it's pretty wonky! I used a striping brush to paint a line across each nail. I then filled in the lower half of the line with polish. As the base was dark I needed two coats of In A Flash*. I was planning to leave it like that but as I hadn't used tape the edges weren't very neat. To tidy it up I added a white line to separate the two halves of the nail.
I'm a bit annoyed at myself with this one as I love how the colours work together and this could have been a gorgeous mani. Doing it freehand means it quite untidy and I think that anything this simple needs to be super crisp. My nails being all oddly shaped and different lengths right now doesn't help matters!
We'll get the new Barry M's swatched asap for you, just as soon as I have some nails to swatch them on and some daylight to photograph them!

So yep, this one is a bit of a nail fail. I'm not entirely sure where I was going with this one but I was loosing the light and rushed something out. The outcome reminds me that I should either leave myself more time, or just defer blogging to another day instead!

Emma put together a beautiful floral mani recently which inspired me to get my floral on too. I know it's a bit of a spring/summer design, but I was excited as it was light when I left the house for work for the first time this week. Signs that the longer days are very slowly returning to us, thank heavens!

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I coincidentally celebrated last night but going out for a lovely Chinese meal with my family, although our reason for the get together was three birthdays in the past 10 days! Anyway, I thought I would continue the new year celebrations on my nails today and share the love with all of you.

Happy Saturday everyone!! This week has been nuts as I was out in Amsterdam with work for two days, so again, sorry we've been a bit low on posts. Emma is in Mexico for 10 days so it will just be me for a little while again, please bear with me. If you have any design ideas or things you've been wanting us to try please email us to let me know, any inspiration will be well received and appreciated!
I was doing a bit of Instagram browsing this morning, looking for some inspiration. A post from @nananailsx caught my eye. Anna had posted a photo of a mani half way through creation, the finished article was gorgeous but I was particularly in love with the unfinished version. As you have probably guessed I love a monochrome mani with a splash of colour, especially during winter. I decided to create my own version of Anna's design.

I seem to be in a bit of a floral mood at the moment. I must be getting geared up for spring! For this design I chose to pull out one of my all time favourite shades: Topshop's Parma Violet. I love the colour for all year and I love the pairing with the rose gold from Models Own. I used this combo once before for this design and am a little bit obsessed.

I have horrendous nails at the moment. I'm putting it down to the cold weather, back to work, and being a bit run down. But if I'm really honest it's probably because I kept peeling off my gel mani's before Christmas. Seriously people, when you're told not to do that there's a reason - don't do it! My nails are like paper and just falling apart. So apologies for the stubby and uneven nails in this design, I've been trying to wait for them to grow back but that doesn't seem to be happening!
