You Had Me At Hello

I have horrendous nails at the moment. I'm putting it down to the cold weather, back to work, and being a bit run down. But if I'm really honest it's probably because I kept peeling off my gel mani's before Christmas. Seriously people, when you're told not to do that there's a reason - don't do it! My nails are like paper and just falling apart. So apologies for the stubby and uneven nails in this design, I've been trying to wait for them to grow back but that doesn't seem to be happening!

Today's design was a quick one and I have no idea where the inspiration came from. I was going to use a white base and black dots but feel like I've done that before so mixed it up a little. The grey base is Moon* by Rimmel London and the pink is You Had Me At Hello*, also from Rimmel. I started with the grey, added white dots with a nail art pen to half of each nail, then used a striper brush to paint the other half pink. As it's winter and there never seems to be any light I topped it with matte topcoat to limit glare in the lightbox. I can't wait for summer to come back!
I love that there's some brightness to this design without it looking too summery. I always find it hard to create wintery nail designs as I'm not a huge fan of dark colours, hence why you see a lot of grays! There is also some shimmer in this pink polish which gives it a girly edge and contrasts to the grey and white.

For a speedy design I'm really pleased with how it ended up. Usually off the cuff designs turn out awfully for me!

Love,
Jo x

  1. My nails are horrendous at the moment, splitting and cracking. I love this design it actually makes your nails seem longer. I'm a sucker for dotty anything, so nails are brilliant. Thanks for a fab post. Sammie.
