Last week we received an epic package from Barry M full of their Spring 16 releases. The goodies included some gorgeous make up but more excitingly twelve new nail varnishes! There were four polishes from three different collections so I've broken up the swatches accordingly and we'll be posting them over the next week or so. Fist up we've got the new additions to the Speedy Nail Paint collection. This was a firm favourite last year so we've got high hopes!
IN A FLASH
First I tried In A Flash* a very pale pink polish. This swatch is two coats but I would recommend three thin coats as I did need to load up the second coat quite heavily. The Speedy polishes dry really fast so three coats isn't too much of a pain. This colour is beautiful so it's definitely worth it! I love that Barry M have stuck with the rounded brushes as they're exactly the right size for my little nail. It's so satisfying to paint a whole nail with one stroke!
Next I tried Winning Streak* which on first impressions is remarkably similar to In A Flash*. It also looks very similar in the photos. I can't deny that it's not hugely different, but there are some subtleties. Winning Streak* is more of a nude polish and doesn't have any pink tone to it. It's a stunning nude although perhaps a little too pale for me as the skin around my nails is fairly dark. I predict that Emma will love this one!
Freestyle* is a dusty pale pink, which reminds me of an older Barry M shade, Ballerina*. Freestyle* is paler and more Spring appropriate. Now I'm back to working in an office I'm always on the hunt for soft neutral shades that will look professional, this will be perfect. The colour density is stronger than in the first two polishes so two thin coats was plenty.
Personal Best* is the most contrasting polish out of the new additions. The first three are all soft neutral shades but Personal Best* is a gorgeous bold purple. Yes, it's still pastel and not exactly bright, but it definitely stands out the most. I'm not one to wear purple nails very often but this shade is very pretty and I expect to be using it a lot in nail art this Spring!
Overall I'm impressed with these new additions to our beloved Speedy collection. They fill the gaps between the original shades which were all bolder pastel colours. Four new soft girly shades, maybe they'll even bring out some feminine designs from us!
What do you think? Are any of these going on your beauty shopping list?
