I was super excited last week to discover that one of my fave nail art bloggers The Polish List was back from her blogging break with new nail art, yay!! I immediately had a scout through her insta page and was inspired by a cute cherry blossom design. By the time the original had made it onto my nails it had changed a fair bit, and I seem to have lost the cherry blossom vibe altogether!
I usually don't get along well with dotty florals but today's design was created entirely with a dotting tool and somehow it didn't end up too bad! I used all Models Own polishes for this mani, starting with a base of Pink Veneer. I then used a couple of different sized dotting tools to add flower shapes in Coconut Cream and Searing Pink*. While these were drying I added some random leaves using Green Fields*. I then used my smallest dotting tool and a steady hand to add some central dots to the flowers, using alternate colours. Finally I went for a simple two dot design on the rest of my nails.
I still prefer a more rustic looking floral design but I seem to be getting my head around dotted flower patterns a little more. They remind me of 70's fabric patterns! I'm not 100% sure on my colour scheme here, it's a little too cutesy. I should have gone for something a little more contrasting, maybe cream flowers on a pale blue base?
Thanks for the inspo Vicky!
