Throwback Tuesday Is a Thing Now

Throwback Tuesdays are the new Thursdays, have you heard? Ok, not really, but we're having a bit of a throwback today anyway! This mani was inspired by the lovely Emma who created a similar one a fair while back - Centre Stripes. Emma used bleached neon Tropink by Maybelline for her design, but I chose the cool blue Cornflower Gleam by Models Own. I was tempted by a warm coral as the sun was shining, but this is a great time of year for soft blues too, and this is one of my favourite shades.

Palm Accent

I can't think straight with the weather at the moment. This weekend went from soaring sunshine to overcast and rainy. I can't keep up! This is why I like winter; it's consistently miserable. When I thought of this design it was nice and sunny outside and my mind was wandering to my holiday coming up later in the year. When I came to actually doing it and taking the pictures it was pouring down with rain so it looked a bit weird.

Simple Summery Spots

You can't beat a good dotticure, especially with some neon pastels thrown in! I've been doing quite a lot of dots recently so I've had to try and think of ways to mix it up a bit. There are unlimited colour options, and different sized dots of course, but the style can get a little samey. I thought I'd test out different sized dots on each nail, I wasn't expecting it to be any good but was pleasantly surprised!

Pastel Skittle for Pride

To celebrate the USA's ruling in favour of same sex marriage and London's very own Pride event that is taking place this weekend I thought I would go for a bit of a rainbow skittle look. It cheers me up just looking at it even though it's not quite as bright as some that I have seen on Instagram today.

Introducing...

I painted this mani last year, and we don't usually re-post designs but it was absolutely perfect for introducing you all to my newest family members - twins!! Last week my sister welcomed two beautiful babies, a little boy and a little girl, making me a proud auntie of three!

Twisting My Melons

Sometimes I get a bit lost scrolling through Instagram and end up going through what seems like hundreds of photos. Before I know it my day is over as I have busily oohed and aahed and taken several screenshots for inspiration. One such session happened yesterday. I ended up scrolling through the lovely Karissa's - Life Is Better Polished - feed. I came across this design and knew straight away that I had to recreate it. She was actually inspired by two other amazing nail artists: Melissa of Melcisme and Autumn Nicole of JustAGirlAndHerNails. Such a great design.

Turquoise Aesthetic Tips

I know the O.P.I ColorPaints collection is designed to be used with the silver canvas base but I've been itching to try them over a white base. I love using white as a base for nail art as it really makes the colours stand out. The silver is gorgeous as it makes the colours really glow but they work really well with white too.

Meet Me In The Green Room

Two factors contributed to me buying Topshop's Green Room: the cute packaging and that it reminds me of Barry M's Greenberry, one of my all time favourite shades. Both are rubbish reasons to buy a polish (I think). Buying a shade because it looks like another is a bit dumb really although actually, to the trained eye, this isn't as bright as Greenberry. The packaging is also a silly reason but look at it!

Eat My Dust with Gold Moons

Eat My Dust* from Barry M's Speedy Nail Paints collection is just dreamy. The perfect pale blue that is totally wearable. I often find that blues are difficult to wear, but that could just be my skin tone. They look lovely on Emma! This is my favourite blue as it's just pale enough, just dusty enough and just blue enough - if that makes sense!

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day Nail Art

We hope you have all had a lovely Father's Day. It's a shame the weather wasn't very good (for us in London anyway). It's also a shame that I thought, as it's the longest day of the year, I could leave photographing my design until 9pm. Nope. Didn't work too well. So sorry for the photos, there's a lot of noise (I think that's the technical term). Well I will be seeing my dad on Tuesday and we will no doubt go to the cinema and eat some lovely food. I can't wait.

Worth A Pretty Penne

The O.P.I Venice collection is meant to be for autumn/winter but I couldn't wait that long to use it, so have decided it's ok for summer too! Especially with the rainy weather we've been having recently, I feel like these muted tones are a bit more suitable.

Hedonist Paisley

Why oh why can no camera ever seem to pick up the true colour of Models Own - Hedonist. I love this polish, it's a super super bright coral shade but every time I use it for blog posts the photos just come out looking orange! I've not got anything against orange but it's just not doing this amazing polish any justice.

Ravenclaw Nail Art

Sorry for the late post today folks but I have been off gallivanting at Harry Potter world aka Warner Bros studios. It's been a bit of an all day affair so have only just got home. I didn't unfortunately go with these nails as I didn't have time to do my right hand and I didn't want to be that much of a weirdo! I went for Ravenclaw nails as it's my favourite house.

Eat Your Veggies Day With Beauty At Tesco

Today is Eat Your Vegetables Day so what better way than to honor the day (other than actually eating your vegetables) than with some cute Kawaii nail art? The idea for this came from the lovely Beauty at Tesco team and is one that we would probably never thought to do had they not suggested it. The design was nicely handed over to me by Jo as I am a veggie so she thought it appropriate! Only problem is I don't actually tend to eat as many vegetables as I should being much more of a bread and cheese kind of gal! However, today I will be attempting to eat green.

Don't forget to check out more of our pics on the Beauty at Tesco's social media sites: Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter

Happy, healthy day everybody!

Hugs
Emma x

Bee A Honey

Quite a while ago now Rimmel released a ton of new polishes and rebranded their whole range. We were lucky enough to be sent a load of samples. Some were duplicates of polishes we already have, but there were lots of new ones too. Emma got the delivery and we didn't get a chance for a polish handover for ages, so only just got my hands on them!

Make The Boys Wink

I don't know what came over me when I put this design together yesterday. Pink on pink - very girly! I love Models Own - Malibu Pink* and felt like the dull cloudy weather could do with something a little brighter. It's much brighter than it looks in these photos, which were taken in the rain, lovely!

Chocolate Sprinkles

krispy kreme nail art
Emma and I have done it again with our similar designs, this week we've clearly been peckish as we've both gone for foodie designs! Emma's mani featured and ice cream design inspired by The Illustrated Nail's need nail art book Nail It! (expect to see more from this soon!) Mine today is similarly sugary donuts - yum!

Stormy Skies

An hour before finishing work at 9pm last night me and the girls in the office started dreaming of beer gardens and chilled glasses of wine. 2 minutes later the sky went black and it started absolutely pouring down. Sigh. This is why summer is not my favourite season. It's too unpredictable. What clothes do I wear when the weather can turn in a matter of moments? One minute boiling hot, next minute chilly and wet. Argh! So to reflect the current weather mood I have gone for a stormy gradient today.

Queen's Birthday Nail Art With Beauty At Tesco

Queen's birthday nail art

Tomorrow is the Queen's official birthday, the lucky devil gets two a year!! To mark the occasion Beauty at Tesco asked us to create a special design. We love the themes they bring to us, they're always challenging and make us think outside the box a bit more than usual!

Ice-Cream Cones

Slapped wrists for me as I didn't post yesterday! It's our only day not to have posted anything so it felt a bit weird. There was a doom rising within me as the clock got to midnight and it seemed for a minute as though this would be the end. But fear not! We are still here! We just have very busy lives at the moment. I was going to whip something up when I got home from work at 11pm but the results would have been ridiculously bad so I decided to wait until this morning.

Kiko Milano Nail Diva Kit

Last week a surprise package arrived on my doorstep from a brand we've never used before - Kiko Milano. I have seen them about but for some reason we'd not got round to testing out their products. The polish came as part of a Nail Diva 3D Nail Art Kit* which included one polish and three types of fimo nail accessories. I was excited to try it out as it reminded me of Emma's Strawberry Spots mani from ages ago!

OPI AW15 Event: Dreaming of Venice

When we first starting blogging we didn't do it with the aim of getting into press events in the slightest so when we started to receive invites it was quite a nice surprise. However, it was also a nerve wracking experience for us as we don't really consider ourselves to be in the field of press and rubbing shoulders with people from big-name magazines can be a little bit daunting, especially when one of us has to make a solo appearance (usually Jo). We can often feel like very little fish in a big pond. Our love of seeing new collections and bringing you guys exclusive swatches though means that we go, we get sociable and we actually end up having a really good time. We realised though that we rarely actually tell you about the events, we just post some random pics and give you the swatches so here's a little sneak peak at the OPI AW15 Event.

She Said Yes

I had planned to have a really productive blogging weekend. These plans were scuppered when my boyfriend fiance popped the question on Friday night! This means that I'm very sorry but I don't have a 'proper' post for you today. However, I did take a lot of photos of my hands this weekend so thought I'd share one of those instead!

Easy Festival Nails

A lot of my friends are off to Field Day today, a weekend festival in London's Victoria Park. I, unfortunately, am working until 9pm so no festival life for me! I can get in the mood with my nails though so today I'm wearing the easiest of festival nails. This is a great look if you're off to any events this summer and want unusual nails but aren't quite comfortable with intricate nail art.

Banana Hen

This week Emma and I had one of our moments where we created similar designs without conferring, sometimes they are creepily similar! In this instance our creations were very different, but both heavily featured bananas. Yep, random.

Abstract O.P.I ColorPaints Design

o.p.i colorpaints nail art
Last week we showed you the entire new O.P.I ColorPaints Blendable Nail Lacquer collection and I've been having a bit more fun with them today. I roped my sister in to act as a model for me while I tested out what they could do. This time I used the cooler end of the colour scale and put together a more abstract design.

Summer Galaxy

galaxy nail art
I am a little bit obsessed with galaxy nail art. I am still yet to completely perfect it but that won't stop me as I love the process of creating galaxy nails. In my opinion Sammy at The Nailasaurus creates the best galaxy designs. She has so many variations and they always look flawless. She's a galaxy inspiration! After looking at some of her pics I decided to try and switch things up and go for a summery galaxy look. I'm not entirely sure that it's worked but I like it anyway!

B.A.N.A.N.A.S

Banana Nail Art

It's June which must mean it's time a fruity design. Everyone loves a bit of fruit for summer, right? Well I do. Last year I was obsessed with fruit manis and  I can feel the bug coming again. I've kick started with this fun banana look. I was looking over some of our old designs and although we've used this kind of banana before we haven't ever done a full design with them.
