Moon Grid

I've been messing around with my nail brush collection recently as my regular brush is knackered. I'm testing all my unused brushes to see what I can create with them, and hoping to work out what I like and don't like so I can set about finding the right brush for me. Brushes are important as a good brush can make or break a design. I've had many occasions where I've messed it all up adding the final touches with a brush that wasn't right for the job. So frustrating!

Saturday Afternoon Aztec & Roses

I had a bit of dilemma with today's mani. I was going to have a polka dot/floral thing and then realised I had done the exact same design a few weeks ago just in a different colour. So last minute I changed the polka dots to a simple tribalesque pattern. Not quite sure it works but I'm rolling with it. I didn't actually have much choice other than to post this either as I have run out of cotton pads which is just about the worst thing that could happen when you're planning a day of nail designs. Must pop out...

Biscuit Day with Beauty At Tesco

Today we bring you a post in conjunction with Beauty at Tesco and in honour of Biscuit Day. Err yes, Biscuit Day. Something that we are ashamed to admit we hadn't heard of until we were asked to create this design. Best. Day. Ever!

O.P.I ColorPaints Blendable Nail Lacquer

Last week we got invited to attend the Coty Nail Bar - a pop up nail haven with exclusive access to Coty's newest nail polishes from a number of brands. Unfortunately, Emma was off gallivanting in New York so I went along to represent Dahlia Nails. The event was in a private room at a hotel on Regent Street and I was met by smiling faces and a cocktail bar - so far so good! I got over my nerves of attending solo and had a lovely chat with some of the Coty ladies, along with treating myself to a gorgeous mani from Claire (Top Twenty Nails).

The showstopper of the event for me was the new O.P.I. ColorPaints collection. I've seen a few shots of them on Instagram but couldn't wait to see them for myself. They only landed in the UK last week and aren't available to buy yet so I was really excited to try them out. We were lucky enough to get to take home a set so I've got a review for you today.
L-R: Silver Canvas, Purple Perspective, Pen & Pink, Magenta Muse, Chromatic Orange, Primarily Yellow, Landscape Artist, Turquoise Aesthetic, Indigo Motif

Emma's Nail Fails

I have something a bit different for you today, I am going to showcase all of my nail fails. Now bear with me, I have quite a few so this will be a picture heavy post. Some of these are designs that I have since redone, some I will try again in future and some are just best forgotten. This is is the kind of thing that I love reading so I hope you enjoy.

Katherine Sabbath Inspired Cake Drip Nails

I very recently discovered Katherine Sabbath on Instagram and she instantly became my new baking idol. Move over Mary Berry, this shit just got serious. Those of you who have followed us for a while, or are fans of our over on Instagram will be familiar with my love of baking. Katherine's creations are something else, bright colours, dripping ganache and all manor of funky cake toppers. Not only are her cakes amazing but Katherine is based in Australia and a fan of I Scream Nails - one of my absolute favourite accounts, needless to say I put two and two together and a design was born!

Kate Spade Inspired Flamingoes

While I was in New York (you're gonna see a lot of inspiration from my trip so sorry in advance) I went on a search for one of my fave NY designers - Kate Spade. Finally slipping into one of her stores I noticed that she's gone for a tropical summer theme this year with tons of flamingoes. My friend and I commented on this as we both love a flamingo motif but often don't buy things as they tend to be overwhelmingly pink which isn't really our thing. Being me I thought if I'm not going to go full on and have flamingo accessories then I will have them on my nails. So here they are!

Love In Paris

This week I got to paint a friend's nails for a wedding which was really fun. I don't often get to do nail art on other people these days as it's hard to find the time. When I was asked to create a mani for a wedding which was split between London and Paris I knew I'd have to set aside some time!

Simple Saturday Leopard

Sorry for the late post today guys, I am suffering from some serious jetlag. I got back from New York on Thursday and haven't got my boy back to normal yet so have been getting up at around 2pm! Oops. I will do a bit more of a post on New York with some themed nails when my head gets back in the game. For now, here's a simple leopard mani for a lazy Saturday afternoon. Colours used are all Barry Ms from the spring Speedy collection: Pit Stop*, Pole Position*, and Eat My Dust*. I topped it all off with a matte top coat.

Happy Bank Holiday weekend!

Forget Me Not

Today's floral design in inspired by my little garden. Chealsea Flower Show it is not, but for amateur gardeners we don't feel that it's coming along too badly! Most of the plants have been dug up from my Mum's garden and transplanted. Some rebelled against this procedure and aren't looking too great now but other's are flourishing. The Forget Me Nots have taken particularly well (although I'm told that they will grow anywhere so I don't think that's down to any gardening skill my myself!)

Sweetie Heart Macaron Nails

macarons nail art
It's Thursday, we're nearly there, Friday is looming! What better way to celebrate than with some macaron nail art? We can't think of anything better, except maybe actual macarons, mmm. I got this idea while I was planning some biscuit nail art (to be revealed soon) and also a Paris mani for a friend. The two themes merged themself together in my brain and this cute macaron design was born.

Confetti Crowd Florals

I am a huge fan of the Confetti Crowd and wish that I had half the sass that those girls have. They are so much fun, their outfits are insane (in a good way) and make me think that they have the best time. I have dressed like them once in my life as part of a dare with a friend whereby we wore the most outrageous clothes we could find to go and get fish and chips. It was the 90s and we did not look cool. Anyway, I digress, to today's mani...

Geometric Polish For Tans Mix Up

A while ago Models Own very kindly sent us some samples of their new additions to the Polish For Tans range. This is one of our favourite MO collections so it's safe to say we were very excited! Unfortunately when the polishes arrived I'd had a series of bad breaks and my nails were a mess. I decided that they deserved better than that so held back on testing them out until my nails had somewhat recovered.

Then and Now: Stegosaurus

This dinosaur is one of my favourite ever designs. The actual execution of my original design (here) isn't all that bad but I put a filter on the photo and a silly border which now annoy me. The position of my hand also really bugs me so I decided to redo. Anyone who is obsessed with nail art will totally understand this level of crazy! These things are important! Be warned, the following post is quite picture heavy.

Fabulous Is My Middle Name

O.P.I Sweetheart* is one of those perfect neutral shades and I absolutely love it. The problem is, because I mainly use my collection for nail art and am usually too lazy to wear polish the rest of the time, it doesn't get used as much as it should. I decided it was about time to use it in some nail art! I picked out Fabulous Is My Middle Name* - Nicole by O.P.I to team it with and got to work.

Boom Clap!

I feel like it's been a while since we did a leopard look for you. I always think that though, we probably did some quite recently! Sorry - I have a memory like a goldfish! Anyway, here is today's look: a simple, pretty pink and leopard mani.

Coconut & Cerise Chrome Dotticure

Today's design was entirely inspired by Emma! I absolutely loved her chrome dots in a mani earlier this week (see it here) and felt the need to create my own version! When Models Own sent us out samples of the Chrome collection we split the polishes between us. Emma got the Rose Chrome in the split so I used Cerise instead (I need to get the Rose ASAP though, it's amazing!)

Summer Picnic

The inspiration for today's mani came from some washi tape. I was searching for some for my scrapbooking when I saw some really summery patterns that made me want to paint my nails! I didn't actually end up buying the tape as it was fabric rather than paper which isn't my thing but the patterns work really well as a fresh summer mani. The yellows and blues are perfect for this time of year, just before the weather gets neon hot.

Peppermint Glitter Daisies

daisy nail art
Every so often I feel the need to create a daisy design, it's like leopard print, it just keeps coming round to the front of my mind. White daisies with glitter centres have been on my shorlist for a while and I finally got round to putting them together. I usually find that my daisies end up looking like fried eggs and never like them quite as much as I think I will. Using the glitter avoids the fried egg situation!

OPI Brights Swatches

I have to be honest and say that I wasn't hugely excited by OPI's 2015 brights when I first saw them. They seemed a bit dark for summer what with a navy and purple plus I'm not a huge shimmer fan and this one has two. However, when I swatched them and saw the shades in the sun I was blown away. I'm still a bit torn on the shimmers but the other shades will no doubt be on my nails all summer long, they are so beautiful. Read on for swatches...

Be Kind To Bees

I'm obsessed with bee patterns at the moment, and am especially loving the black and white versions with more detailed bees. I've been wanting to try a more elaborate bee design on my nails for a while, but they always seem to turn out more cutesy, and I can't resist adding yellow in! This time I went for a monochrome colour scheme and stuck to it.

Hero Shade: Topshop's Parma Violet

The first nail polish I bought from Topshop was Parma Violet. I still have the polish even though it is unusable. The reason for this is that I couldn't find it anywhere and couldn't bear to part with it. I have tried to revive it but it's beyond repair. So imagine my delight when I saw that for their fifth birthday Topshop Beauty has released Parma Violet in gorgeous, limited edition, rose gold packaging. Of course I snapped it up straight away. I might even go get another to keep as spare!

Barry M Summer Nail Paints

We got an absolutely epic package from Barry M yesterday, it was chock-a-block full of new make up and, most importantly, polish! Barry M are releasing seven new polishes for summer, and we've reviewed them all for you today. Unfortunately my nails and schedule are not on my side today meaning that I've been unable to swatch these properly for you. I have swatched all the colours on a tester wheel and provided my opinion on them. We promise to get them swatched for you ASAP (or use them in nail art which is probably more likely!)

Splodges and Studs

I have been getting into gradients for this summer so decided to give something a bit different a go - a splodge gradient. I'm not sure of the technical term for this. It's not really a gradient at all and I guess you wouldn't really call them splodges either but it's not really a watercolour effect so I'm out of ideas! Whatever it is I love it!

OMG You Killed Kenny!

I seem to be enjoying recreating characters on my nails at the moment. A few days ago it was The Very Hungry Caterpillar and today it's South Park. I've made a move away from children's characters with this one, although it still reminds me of my youth!

Everyday Robots

I'm not entirely sure where my fascination with robots came from. I can't even say I'm a huge robot movie fan. I saw Short Circuit for the first time ever a few months ago and the robot kind of annoyed me! Just reminded me of C.H.E.E.S.E from Mac'n'Cheese who was super annoying! If you're not a Friends fan, sorry for that reference and also, how are you not a Friends fan?! Despite them annoying me I love how cute they look on my nails.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Nail Art
As a girl who loves to eat you will not be surprised to hear that I loved The Very Hungry Caterpillar book as a kid. It's such a well known children's book with a character which I'm sure is recognised all over the world. It was inevitable that he'd end up on our nails at some point!

May The 4th Be With You

Our lovely friends at Beauty at Tesco asked us to create some Star Wars themed nails for May 4th which is something that we had marked in the calendar but which, in all honesty, we probably wouldn't have got around to if they hadn't been requested. We decided to go for something a bit different for our Star Wars mani, something a little girlier than the average. We chose our favourite characters from the series for our design: Princess Leia and Yoda and complimented their simple faces with easy backgrounds.

Beauty at Tesco will be sharing more pics on their social media pages today so make sure to check them out! You can follow Beauty at Tesco on InstagramPinterest, and Twitter, or visit their blog here.

It's A Girl!

Royal Baby nailart
Yesterday, those of us based in the UK welcomed a gorgeous little Princess. I don't know a lot about the monarchy but Queenie recently changed the rules to allow the new bubba to be called a Princess, a few years back she wouldn't have been awarded that title. To celebrate the new arrival we whipped up some girly baby pink nail art!

Aquarium Glitter & Dots

Something quick and simple for Saturday night, a Barry M mix up with polka dots and glitter. I picked out a couple of polishes I haven't used for ages, Vintage Violet* and Caspian and an old fave, Greenberry, along with Treasure Chest glitter. I wasn't really sure where I was going with this design, which you can probably tell, but I just loved the little group of colours.

Aztec Gradient

I touched briefly in my last post about the lovely polishes we received from Rimmel recently and I am still trying to figure out how to present them all to you. While I have a think about that I have had loads of ideas for nail designs as there is just about every colour you can think of. Today's mani was created using two from the new Rita Ora range: Peachella* and Neon Fest*. The range has a festival theme so naturally I went for a tribal design.
