OPI Starlight Collection Swatches and Review

I always get stupidly excited when a new OPI collection drops on my doormat. The Starlight Collection* was the latest to be delivered. We were sent 7 out of the 10 shades to showcase. I've actually seen a review where 18 shades are mentioned but the blurb sent to me by OPI only mentioned 10. Inspired by the night sky the range varies in tone and finish which makes it quite interesting, even for someone who's not a huge glitter fan (you may remember this from the last hundred times I've mentioned it!).

I'm In The Moon For Love*
This collection really wasn't made for me as I'm not into glitter, shimmer, or metallic kinds of finishes. Having said that I really like this shade. It's a metallicy purple that applies like a dream and has a really pretty sparkle to it. It's a very subtle shimmery finish which works really well for this time of year. I really like the OPI formula of quite a watery application but opaque in two coats. Lovely.

Ce-less-tial Is More*
This is a champagne coloured glitter polish that is very pretty and I can imagine it looking amazing with a black party dress over the Christmas period but I'm not sure if it has converted me to being a huge glitter fan. If I were to go for full on glitter nails this would probably be the shade I'd pick as it's beautiful.

No More Mr Night Sky*
This is actually my kind of shimmer shade, a deep grey. I also love the name of this polish - OPI names are the best! The formula of this is again quite thin but two coats was enough to get an even, opaque finish.

Love Is In My Cards*
I always hear that OPI know how to do their reds and I'm sure if I had an extensive OPI collection I'd be able to find dupes for this shade but I will forever be excited by new crimson shades as OPI do them so well. This one is just my sort of tone: slightly blue base I think and super shiny. A lovely deep crimson for the holiday period.

Infrared-y To Glow*
This glitter is interesting but really not my thing. Maybe one for youngers over the holidays. This is three coats and coverage is sparse. I've seen this over other shades as well and it still didn't really work for me. The pieces are a pretty champagne-pink but not for me I'm afraid.

Super Star Status*
This polish has the same kind of textured finish as Ce-less-tial Is More but it's silver rather than champagne coloured. The finish is kind of inoffensive and a pretty standard glitter but the silver makes it a bit boring. I feel like I've seen this before.

Give Me Space*
OK after all I've said about glitters and shimmers I feel a bit of a fool as I have a weird obsession with dark blue versions. I've said it before so maybe I'll do a post on the subject but these blues just hit me right in my disco heart. This one is perfect for me. The formula is great, I can very rarely fault OPI application, and the shade of blue is divine. The sparkle makes it perfect for the holiday season and I think it looks much classier than classic red, gold and silver glitters. Perfecto!

My Picks
Love Is In My Cards*
Give Me Space*

Super Star Status*
Infrared-y To Glow*

What do you think of the collection? Are you a fan of these kinds of finishes?
