Emma has created really cute gingham nails as part of a mix and match in the past. I was jealous so decided to give it a go! I picked out three of my favourite Barry M polishes for this girly pink design. Gingham reminds me of summer picnics in the park, perfect for this time of year!
The polishes I used are Cotton*, Get Set Go* and Kiss Me Quick*, all from Barry M. I started with two coats of white as a base. Once this was dry I painted on a grid pattern using the pale pink, Kiss Me Quick*. I completed the design by adding squares of hot pink Get Set Go* where the pale pink grid lines overlapped. The idea is that where your lines overlap the colours should become deeper. You can use any colours to create this design, just start with a neutral base and pick two shades of one colour, using the darker shade for the overlap squares.
In theory this is a really easy design, however I found it very difficult to do it neatly. I perhaps picked the wrong polishes as the Barry M Speedies dry so quickly that they're not the easiest to work with for detailing. I'm not very happy with my attempt as it's so messy, but overall it's a cute summer look!
Have you tried gingham nails yet? How did you get on?
