Summer Strawberries

At the start of summer Tom and I got quite into gardening. He decided to grow some chilli plants and we've also got some cherry tomatoes going well. At one point he expressed an interested in getting some strawberry plants, so when I saw one on offer in Ikea I grabbed it for him. The problem is, since then our lives have been a bit hectic and the garden has suffered a little from lack of TLC. Most things have managed to survive on their own, and have since been nursed back to full health but the strawberry plant unfortunately suffered beyond repair. We got a couple of strawbs off it but it's life was short lived. Today's design makes up for the lack of strawberries in the garden, and pays respect to our poor dead plant... oops!

I have tried strawberry nails before but I don't think they ever made it on to the blog as they were so rubbish! Who knew they'd be so hard to get right. I was inspired to try again when I saw and Instagram post by @nailove2807. I used a similar style but mixed up the design a bit to make it our own.

The polishes are all Rimmel - Bee A Honey*, Double Decker Red*, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Bewitch*, Round and Round the Garden. And I used a Barry M nail art pen for the flowers. We love the base colour of this mani, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, but it's so sheer that you need three coats which is a pain. Mostly because then I have to remember to wait for it to dry before starting on the nail art!

I was completely surprised by how well this mani came out, I was expecting another mess to be honest but I really love it. I ummed and ahhed about adding the little bees but I'm so glad I did, they're my favourite part! I was sad to take this off for work and kinda want to paint it back on again tonight...

I'll have another go at strawberries next year, hopefully we'll manage to keep them alive a little bit longer!

Love,
Jo x
