Jo and I have been so busy for the past month or so that I relished the opportunity yesterday to kick back in the sunshine and do my nails all day. No barbeques, beer gardens, or beaches for me. It was the perfect opportunity to get back on track with my designs and actually enjoy doing them without rushing around after work trying to find a patch of sunlight.
I like to listen to music or watch music videos while I'm doing my nails so as not to get too distracted. While watching some chart show on MTV the song Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon came on. I hadn't really heard it before (I'm a bit of a grandma when it comes to music!) but loved the 80s vibe and in particular got inspired by the graphic patterns in the background. And so this design was born!
I used the same pattern on each of my nails but started with a skittle base. It's kind of a generic 80s patter I guess but I love it as it's so easy but always looks really fun. I liked having different shades on each of my nails as it mixes things up a bit but I think I liked the thumb nail the best. It's a shame that you can't see it properly in these pics but the base colour is the one in the pic above: Eat My Dust*.
I feel like I have been using the Barry M spring Speedy collection excessively but I can't get enough! It seems so crazy that we first swatched these for you in January. Jo knew then that I would adore these. Every design in my mind seems to work better with mattified pastels. I did a couple of other designs yesterday and had to really force myself not to use this collection. I ended up kicking myself though as I thought the manis would've looked better in Speedy colours! I hope you aren't sick of them yet.
