Mother of Pearl Marbling

I'm having an absolute nightmare with water marbling at the moment. I was never very good but every time I try now they just go completely tits up! I tried to create a water marbled mother of pearl type effect for this mani but in the end had to admit defeat. Instead I used a toothpick to blend the colours together once they were on my nail. It has a similar marbling effect but it's just not quite as impressive. Having said that, I'm really pleased how these turned out which makes me think I should use tooth pick marbling more often. It's really quick and easy and best of all there's no mess to clear up!

To create this effect you just paint a base coat using one of your chosen colours (probably the lightest one). Then you dab blobs of each colour onto the nail and before they dry gently mix them together with a toothpick. The first time I did this I used way too much polish and they were all lumpy, you don't need as much as you think!

I teamed the marbled nails with Barry M's  Black Multi Glitter polish which is annoyingly difficult to capture on camera. I added a couple of silver studs to jazz it up a bit as they go well with silver in the marbling.

The other polishes I used are Ciate - Silver, Rimmel - Lose Your Lingerie*, Barry M - Matte Top Coat*, Berry Ice Cream and Greenberry.

I can't get enough of Berry Ice Cream and Greenberry together, there's just something about green and purple that I love. Pretty sure I'm on my own with that one, but it looks cute here!

Do you have a favourite marbling method?

Love,
