Wonderful Watermelons

The working title for this post was 'Sammy's Watermelons' but I thought that might attract the wrong kind of attention, especially after the recent leaked photos scandal!! I know summer is nearly over but I've been meaning to do watermelon nails for months and have finally chosen my design. This mani is inspired by the wonderful Sammy from The Nailasaurus who created a gorgeous tutorial. I mixed up the colours a little to make it slightly different, but the fact mine are way messier than Sammy's was not planned, oops! Seriously, how do you get it so neat?!

The polishes I used for this design are all from Barry M - White, Pink Flamingo, Strawberry Ice Cream and the new Cardamom*. I started with two coats of the pink base colours, which I chose to alternate. I then used a small brush to add a white edging along the base and sides of each nail. On top of the white I added an outer edging in dark green (told you this colour would be useful for nail art!) Finally I used a Barry M black nail art pen to add little pips.

Thanks Sammy for the nail inspo!! I hope everyone is happy with us continuing to create fruit based nail designs after summer is over, because I'm not sure we're going to be able to stop ourselves. Maybe we will have to move into a winter food theme soon, soup nails anyone?!

  1. Great design! Hehe I think Sammy's Watermelons could have been a bit misinterpreted as a post title! These look just like Sammy's design too! I love fruit nails - once I've finished the 31DC I think I'll have to create some more fruit based designs! :)
