Spots, Stripes, and Florals

Polka Dot Nail Art
I painted my nails for work the other day using a pretty mint green polish. I was wearing an old Topshop top and thought that the mint green complimented it quite well. In the words of Gru from Despicable Me 'Light Bulb!' I instantly started thinking of which polishes I could use to recreate the stripes and flowers on the shirt.

I have only used striping tape once before and it was a bit of a disaster. Jo is a seasoned pro at it now but I just can't seem to gauge the perfect time to peel it off so end up with smudges and stringy bits. I thought I'd give it another go for this mani as I wanted the stripes to be perfect. Unfortunately I still haven't quite got the hang of it so end up with some imperfections down the side but thankfully I managed to cover most of these with the flowers.

I used Nicole by OPI's Mintage* for the green nails with polka dots in Barry M's Coconut*. I also used Coconut* underneath Chanel's Blue Satin for the striped nails. The flowers were painted on with a small nail art brush and OPI's Red Lights Ahead...Where?* and Barry M's Strawberry Ice Cream (highlights). The Leaves are a combination of OPI's Gargantuan Green Grape* and Barry M's Key Lime. I topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite.

I love this as it combines some key nail art looks: spots, stripes, and florals. These are so cute for summer but I reckon you could switch up the mint green nails for the Blue Satin for an autumn/winter look too.

  1. This combination looks awesome! I love the entire look and I'm going to pin this! :D The mint colour is gorgeous too (but then again, with my mint polish obsession, every mint colour is bound to look good lol)

    1. Thanks Robin - we love your Pinterest! We are obsessed with mint polishes too. Every shade has a little something different though, we swear! E&J.xx
