Barry M Summer Tribal

aztec nail art
I haven't attempted a good tribal in a while as I don't really like my Barry M nail pens for this sort of look (shock horror I know!). The reason for this is that the line they give is just a little too fat which makes the end result clunky. I had the same issue when trying to create an art deco mani; they just aren't delicate enough for these looks. However, I thought I would give it another go as I feel summer is drawing to a close in London (there's a nippy little chill coming in).

To create this look I drew the design on my nail first with my black nail art pen. I then used a little brush and filled in the shapes with my three chosen Barry M shades - Kiwi*, Malibu*, Rhossili* - at random. I also filled in some if the shapes with my white nail pen. I topped everything off with my Seche Vite which is usually so reliable but it has become a bit gloopy in its old age and managed to smudge my design in some parts. It also made my nails super shiny which made this mani hard to capture well.

I'm still not 100% happy with how the nail pens make these designs look. I still think the line is too fat but I was pretty pleased with this look overall.

Can you recommend any good, thin nail art pens for delicate manis?

  1. These are so detailed! They must have taken you so long to do! The colour combination works so well too! :)
