Tutorial: Acid Wash Florals

Since buying some of the Maybelline Bleached Neons and Acid Wash polishes last month I have been a little bit obsessed. I really didn't expect to like the Acid Wash effect polish as much as I do. I love the faded 80s looks I can create. This look inspired some faded floral jeans I think I saw once in a vintage store. I say think I saw because I potentially dreamed them!!
To create this look I used: Maybelline Acid Wash Lilac Rebel; Maybelline Bleached Neons Sun Flare, Tropink, Coral Heat, and Chic Chartreuse; a small nail brush (mine was slanted but yours doesn't have to be); and a Barry M white nail art pen.
1. Paint two coats of Lilac Rebel over your base coat
2. Using the white nail art pen draw some groups of circles and leaf shapes
3. With your small nail art brush paint over the white shapes with your colours
4. Once the colours have dried use your white nail art pen to draw some highlights
5. Seal the look with your favourite top coat - I used Seche Vite
Once I had finished the nails I decided to add a top coat of Top Splatter which is also from Maybelline's Acid Wash range. This gave an even more distressed look to the nails which I really liked but it may be a bit too much for some people. The nails in the first pic of this post are without the extra step.

My love of these polishes is continuing to grow. I really like this look. Expect to see them a lot more before the summer is out. Have any of you tried the range? What did you think?

Hugs

  1. How awesome! I love the floral design on top of the acid wash polish. I haven't seen these polishes in a store near me but I'll definitely pick them up once they're available!

    1. Thanks Robin! We just picked them up in Boots and Superdrug but it took ages to find them. They might only be available in bigger stores. E&J.xx
