Goddess

Goddess - The Movie
A friend of mine was recently telling me about a film she has been working on called 'Goddess'. A cute story focusing on Elspeth, a mother whose funny kitchen sink songs turn her into an internet sensation! When she sent me to the Facebook page for the film I immediately found myself on the lookout for nail inspo. Who else does this?! I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with me, I can't look at a photo or walk into a room without searching out patterns and colour combos! I know Emma is prone to the same issue, so I'm not totally alone. Needless to say, I found some inspiration in Elspeth's cute blouse and apron outfit!

To create my Goddess inspired design I picked out a whole bunch of Rimmel polishes; Ultra Violet, Round and Round the Garden, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Navy Seal*, Bewitch*, White Hot Love* and Seduce*. The colour scheme is a mix of purples, greens and soft blue. I wouldn't usually put these colours together, and wasn't 100% sure it would work as they aren't the same shades as the inspiration. However, the mix of patterns and shades came together really well, I think because all the colours were quite soft and subtle.

I chose to create two floral nails, with split blue and green base and purple flowers, inspired by Elspeth's blouse. I also added two spotted nails, with purple and green dots, centred with white - these nails reflect the square borders on her blouse. Finally, one accent nail was inspired by Elpeth's lilac lace edged apron (which I quite want!).

The split colour base behind florals is something I haven't tried before, and I really like how it looks. Might be using this more often in florals to mix things up a bit!

Mix and match manis tend to look a bit nuts, and usually my colour choices don't help. I found that using a soft mix of colours helps to bring the three different designs together without using the exact same colours on each nail.

Goddess will be in cinemas across the UK from 4th July (tomorrow!) - to read more about it and watch the trailer, visit the Facebook page - here!

    1. We think it has kind of taken over our lives. We are staring at people's patterned clothes a little too creepily wondering if we could make it look good in a nail design! E&J.xx
