Lacy Hearts Tutorial

I absolutely love Barry M's Limited Edition Bikini* polish. It's found the perfect spot between purple and blue and settled down there to provide happiness to all! Once I had this on for swatches I couldn't bear to take it off, so instead I added some nail art.

Bikini* is a lovely girly shade so I couldn't resist adding pink lacy hearts! I used a technique Emma and I use quite a lot - drawing on the shape with a white pen, then filling in the colour or details. Here's how we did this one:

Step One - Draw the top part of a heart covering around half your nail with a nail pen
Step Two - Add lace edging around the heart, again with the nail pen
Step Three - Fill the heart in with pink polish or nail pen
Step Four - If you fancy them, add some dots in around the heart

Just cover it in top coat and here's the result...

This is a pretty girly design, but the bluey tone of the polish stops it being too sickly. Mixing pastels can be really cute, but also has the potential to go wrong, so I'm very glad this turned out well!

To create this design we used Barry M's white and pink nail art pens, and Bikini* polish - Limited Edition, only available in Boots, launching June 11th. We'd love to see if you recreate this, or any of our other designs, make sure to send us some pics or tweet us @dahlia_nails!
