Artist Inspo: Matisse

We love taking inspiration from art, so today we have a Matisse inspired design for you. I took inspiration from his 1952 painting The Parakeet and the Mermaid. This painting caught my eye as it's full of colour and fun shapes, perfect for nail art!
The Parakeet and the Mermaid (1952)

I used a ton of polishes for this design: O.P.I - Put A Coat On!* and Push & Pur-Pull*, Rimmel - Bewicth* and Oragasm*, Models Own - True Blue and Maybelline - Electric Yellow.

I regret not using a bright green, but otherwise am pleased with how it turned out. The design is so full of life, and works really well as a mani. It was so fun to paint on all the shapes, and as they're all different size and shape there was no planning involved, I just made it up as I went along! I decided to leave out the actual mermaid and parakeet from the original design, and stuck to the seaweedy shapes and little fruit.

Creating this has made me desperate to go to the Matisse Cut-Outs exhibition at the Tate Modern. Has anyone been yet?

Love,
