Utopian Stripes

Those of you who have followed this blog for a while will know that Models Own - Utopia is one of our all time favourite polishes. On it's own it's a gorgeous pale dusty pink perfect for both smart and casual wear, with a little more than a simple nude. It's also ab-fab for nail art, providing a great base to add a variety of colours and designs.

For today's post I've kept it simple with stripes. I love the look of a monochrome design over a really pale colour and, true to form, it works perfectly with Utopia!

I didn't bother getting out the striping brushes for this design, just used the ready-made versions inside my Primark nail pens. These are not the best stripers as they're pretty thick, but if you're careful they can be used to create great lines. I wasn't after anything too precise for this design so they were fine. I've been using the Primark nail pens for a little while now and, although the nib can sometimes be a bit blobby, I'm finding them pretty good. You just have to get used to the strange PVA glue smell!! At £2 for a pack of 3 pens they're a bargain, and have lasted much better than I anticipated.

I'm a bit disappointed with how this photo turned out. The more I take photos in natural light the more I miss it when I have to use a lamp, damn you 9-5 job getting in the way of good photo taking! A better light set-up is urgently required - any hints or pointers?
