Silk Squares

I always get a bit excited when I see a new Barry M collection. I think it's because I'm a bit of a hoarder/collector and feel like I need every single one in my stash. It's also got worse since Jo and I started this blog as I feel like I need to buy everything new to give you all a lovely look and help you make the decision whether to buy or not. So when the new Silk collection came out I could barely contain my excitement. Then I actually looked at the polishes a bit closer and realised that actually I'm not a huge fan of this type of finish. I don't know what you'd call it exactly (iridescent? metallic? duochrome?) but I have never been that into it.

So why, you are asking, did I go and buy one (or two) of them? Well, I just couldn't resist! And to my surprise I liked them a little bit better than I thought I would. I went for Meadow and Mist and was pretty pleased when I popped them on my nails. The colours are subtle and because they dry matte they weren't too metallicy looking.

For the look above I used my Barry M white nail art pen to create some squares within squares. In hindsight I should have used a metal-tipped pen to get a finer, sharper line but I suppose these turned out OK.

After trying these two from the Silk range I was tempted to buy the other colours but then I saw that some new Gelly polishes are coming out plus the Aquarium collection so decided against it.

Have you tried the Barry M Silk collection yet? What are your favourite nail polish finishes?

  1. This design is so pretty and so detailed! I agree about buying more nail polish, since I started my blog my collection has grown, I feel as if I need to buy the latest collections! Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the silk collection, I'm not that keen on the finish, but I have to say Meadow and Mist look stunning! Have you tried the Aquarium collection out yet? :)

    1. I know, I'm amazed how much detail Emma squeezed in there, and so neatly! Bought ALL Aquarium collection yesterday! Will have swatches for you soon. They're very pretty, not sure if I'd wear the blue on all fingers as they're quite eye catching, but absolutely stunning colours! Jo xx

    2. Ooh lucky! I can't wait to see the swatches! Ahh okay, that's what I was thinking too - I think they'd be better as accent nails maybe? I think they'd look great on toes too! :)
