Geometric Stained Glass

I've recently started playing netball again and was horrified when I remembered the nail rule. My already stubby little nails have to be kept even shorter now, they can't be seen over the end of your finger!! So from now on it looks like Emma will be showcasing designs for long nails, and I'll be focusing on all you short nail friends :)

After going through a phase of non-stop striping tape manis I realised I haven't done any for a while. I had a bit of time on my hands so chose to try a stained glass effect. Usually stained glass manis are done freehand but I wanted to add a geometric element to it so used striping tape.

I started with a black base coat and waited for it to fully dry before applying the striping tape. I added the tape randomly across each nail, leaving a variety of gaps in between. I then filled the gaps with four different pastel polishes. I just used the polish brush to dab on the colour, in hindsight it would have been easier, and neater to use a smaller brush.

I was a little disappointed with this mani as it turned out a bit messy. The main reason for this was that I used a thick coat of each colour, which then smudged when I peeled off the tape, annoying!!

The polishes in this mani are all Barry M - Black, Blueberry Ice Cream, Lemon Ice Cream, Mint Green and Strawberry Ice Cream.
